HRS join Gael Quality partner network
Gael Quality has signed a partnership agreement with Huckerby Royall Systems (HRS), developer and supplier of the Jobshop suite of manufacturing software, to distribute Q-Pulse to existing Jobshop users and new business opportunities. The agreement marks the first phase of a development programme that will result in closer interoperability between Jobshop and Q-Pulse.
Together with Planit International, Licom, Radan, Cabinet Vision and Cabnetware, HRS is part of the Planit Holdings group of companies, a London Stock Exchange listed business operating in global industrial and retail markets, with software products encompassing design to manufacturing applications and business management solutions.
Peter Roost, HRS Managing Director:
‘It’s vitally important for us to continually develop our software and services portfolio through future releases of Jobshop. Our strategic agreement with Gael Quality not only reflects the close fit between our two company cultures, but also provides both partners with the means to enhance the value and capabilities of its software products.’
Martin Bowman, Gael Quality Sales & Marketing Manager:
‘Q-Pulse helps organisations from airlines to health care trusts to implement a culture of improvement throughout their operations. All companies have similar requirements and the principles of Quality Management from which Q-Pulse was developed are equally applicable across all industry sectors worldwide.
‘With its enviable position in the manufacturing sector, HRS’s core competences and expertise will enable both existing and new HRS customers to fully embrace a continuous improvement culture with Q-Pulse.’

Foodtech 2005
We exhibited Q-Pulse at this year’s Foodtech from the 7th to the 8th of September as the event celebrated its 15th year. As the established market leader in the hygiene, safety and quality control sectors of the food industry, Foodtech is the UK’s foremost exhibition for food technologists, quality assurance personnel and food hygiene specialists and attracts a high number of visitors from throughout the industry.
This year’s Foodtech was held at the International Centre in Telford, alongside the Food & Meat Expo, formerly the National Food and Meat Exhibition, the food industry’s largest and longest-established event; both exhibitions benefited from the shared location, with more than 1500 visitors in attendance at Foodtech alone.
We attended the exhibition with one of our UK-based business partners, food industry specialists QMACH. Using their extensive experience of the food industry, QMACH work closely with Gael Quality to integrate Q-Pulse with Food Safety Management Systems.
Mark Fuller, QMACH Director:
‘Recent food safety risks, including Para Red and Sudan 1 have increased pressure on businesses to demonstrate compliance on demand with standards such as HACCP. As the market-leading solution to managing HACCP-based Food Safety Management Systems Q-Pulse helps to reduce regulatory exposure and to demonstrate compliance on demand.’
Our thanks to everyone who took the time to visit our stand.

EuroGentest
We were delighted to be invited to EuroGentest’s first workshop on IT support for Quality Management, which was held in Leuven, Belgium from the 15th to the 16th of September. The EuroGentest Network of Excellence is an EU-funded project that is aimed at structuring, harmonising and improving the quality of genetic testing services throughout the European Union.
With 1500 laboratories throughout the EU equipped to perform genetic testing services and with annual growth in the requirement for testing between 100 and 300%, laboratories are under increasing pressure to offer services of the highest quality and to ensure that all Europeans can benefit from the same high standards of genetic medical care.
The EuroGentest network comprises six units, with Unit 1, Quality Management and accreditation/certification of genetic testing, as the network’s key unit. Organised by Unit 1, the initial workshop brought together more than 30 laboratory professionals from throughout the EU, to evaluate eQMS solutions through presentations, workshop and Q&A sessions.
Professor Jean-Jacques Cassiman, Project Coordinator, EuroGentest:
‘Genetic testing currently is highly fragmented and varying in quality. This leads in turn to lack of adequate counseling and thus increases anxiety amongst patients and their families. Standardisation and quality improvement is a massive task that can only practically be attempted through a collaborative effort, with the support of the EU, such as EuroGentest.’
Martin Bowman, Gael Quality Sales & Marketing Manager:
‘In participating in EuroGentest, our objective was to ensure that attendees had a clear understanding of the benefits available to them through electronic QMS such as Q-Pulse. With more than 250 laboratories in the UK and Ireland managing accreditation with Q-Pulse, another objective was to ensure that the attendees were fully aware of the competencies possessed by Gael in the laboratory accreditation environment. We are very pleased to report that both objectives were achieved.’

Dodson’s diary
As Gael Quality’s training manager, Brian Dodson has travelled all over the world to share his extensive experience of Q-Pulse and Quality Management with our customers worldwide. From this edition of thepulse, we’ll be bringing you excerpts from his travels.
‘After attending EuroGentest in Belgium last month, I travelled to the Kingdom of Bahrain to visit Dr. Mahmoud Abou-Zaid at British Bahrain Quality Management Consultants (BBQMC). As members of our international partner network, BBQMC offer Q-Pulse products and services to customers throughout the Middle East from their headquarters in Bahrain’s capital, Manama. BBQMC have become a key player in establishing a quality forum for the Middle Eastern states.
‘I worked with BBQMC in delivering Q-Pulse training to attendees from two of our customers in Bahrain, Cebarco and Coil-Tech. Both companies are involved in the construction industry in the Middle East: Cebarco as main contractors on civil engineering projects and Coil-Tech on structural work, steel preparation and coating. We carried out the training from the 21st to the 22nd of September, and on the 23rd September I worked with BBQMC to install Q-Pulse at Cebarco Bahrain.
‘While I didn’t get the chance to explore Manama, from what I saw it’s a thriving and modern city. Arabic is the official language in Bahrain, but as a former British guided state, English is widely spoken throughout, although being from Barnsley, my Yorkshire accent attracted more than a little attention. I’m grateful to Dr Abou-Zaid for his hospitality and I enjoyed working with our customers at both Cebarco and Coil-Tech, but hopefully when I next visit Bahrain, it’ll be for pleasure, not business.’
