Gael Quality sponsors Congress quality sessions
We're sponsoring the Quality Management sessions at this year’s Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Congress. The Congress’s annual lecture programme addresses issues of importance to all biomedical scientists, with this year’s programme including lectures on the role of Quality Management in biomedical science.
As the UK’s professional body for biomedical scientists, the Institute of Biomedical Science’s (IBMS) Congress is the largest and most important event for biomedical science professionals in the UK. With attendees from all over the UK and Ireland, this year's Congress is to be held from the 26th to the 28th of September at Birmingham’s ICC.
Commenting on our sponsorship of the lectures, Martin Bowman, Gael Quality Sales & Marketing Manager, said:
‘As the only lectures on Quality Management at this year’s Congress, we felt that it was important for us to promote this element. The Congress is always well-attended and our presence at it means that our ongoing work in the laboratory environment is communicated throughout the members of the IBMS.
‘The tools and techniques of Quality Management are vital components in the effective management of laboratory accreditation and our sponsorship of the sessions is a natural fit, given that Q-Pulse is the market-leading solution for lab accreditation management.’
For more information on the Congress, visit the web site at www.ibms.org. For further details of managing laboratory accreditation with Q-Pulse, contact William McGregor at mcgregorw@gaelquality.com or on 01355 593439.

Q-Pulse at Druk Air
As the national carrier of the Royal Government of Bhutan, Druk Air (Royal Bhutan Airlines) is one of the world’s smallest national carriers, serving the country’s population of 600,000. High in the Himalayas, between Tibet and India's Assam Plain, Druk Air is the only airline operating from Paro airport, flying to seven cities in six countries.
Located in a deep valley at 7300ft above sea level, Paro is the only airport in Bhutan, and with surrounding hills as high as 16,000ft, approach into Paro airport is entirely by visual flight rules. With a fleet of two BAe-146 and two A319 aircraft, Druk Air implemented Q-Pulse to manage their JAR-OPS 1, 66 and EASA-145 requirements.
Thinley Dorji, Airline Quality and Safety Manager said:
‘The legislative requirements do not make any concessions for size – legally we have to be on an equal and level playing field with any other big operator. The only way to achieve that is to have small, compact and efficient monitoring tools, and Q-Pulse more than meets our needs.’
‘If you are a company with limited human resources or have a boss who counts every penny, give him the good news – Q-Pulse will be his saviour and saver.’
Commenting on Q-Pulse's implementation at Druk Air, Nicholas Campbell, International Development Manager, said:
‘At Gael Quality, in speaking with new aviation customers we became conscious that, while a lot of emphasis was placed on our larger carrier customers, including SAS, Emirates and Air Canada, it became apparent that many of our customers are made up of smaller airlines and MROs all over the world, epitomised by Druk Air.
‘As its implementation at Druk Air has shown, Q-Pulse is an effective and efficient solution for aviation audit management, regardless of your organisation’s size.’

Beyond accreditation
In addition to our pathology-specific user groups and IBMS-recognised training, we're increasing our commitment to our laboratory users with the launch of a new training programme intended to help Pathology laboratories move beyond the achievement of CPA.
Our Beyond Accreditation programme is open to Pathology professionals who are responsible for the continuous improvement of their laboratory accreditation system, as well as Quality Managers whose laboratories have already achieved CPA accreditation and who now wish to shift their focus from compliance to continuous improvement.
The programme introduces attendees to tools and techniques that can maximise the improvement opportunities identified using Q-Pulse and other software solutions. Concepts such as Root Cause Analysis and Brainstorming are explored, which can be used within the laboratory to enhance incident investigation and root cause analysis.
At the end of the one-day programme, attendees will leave equipped with the tools and techniques to reduce the resources spent on QMS administration and reporting, as well as to facilitate the introduction of continuous improvement techniques to the laboratory.
Commenting on the launch of the new programme, Martin Bowman, Gael Quality Sales & Marketing Manager:
‘Within the Pathology environment, support is sorely lacking for Pathology professionals who have achieved accreditation and are looking to take their laboratory further. Beyond Accreditation is part of an ongoing programme of support for our laboratory users, which provides pathology professionals with tools and techniques to drive their laboratory beyond compliance and enable the development of a continuous improvement culture.’
For more details of managing laboratory accreditation with Q-Pulse, contact William McGregor at mcgregorw@gaelquality.com or on 01355 593439. For further information on the Beyond Accreditation programme, visit our web site at www.gaelquality.com.

Gael Quality web site redesign
As we move towards the next generation of Q-Pulse, we’ve recently redesigned the Gael Quality web site to help you find information about our products and services quickly and easily.
As the definitive resource for managing compliance and improvement with eQMS, the web site now features a comprehensive resource centre, providing white papers, case studies and executive briefings that give you an overview of how quality professionals in vertical sectors can manage standards such as ISO 9000, HACCP, JAR-OPS and CPA.
The ongoing redesign will also include specialist sections dedicated to our continuing work within vertical markets, including Aviation, Food Safety and Healthcare, as well as the relaunch of the Q-Forum as a dedicated user-to-user forum, in which users can share their experiences of using Q-Pulse to manage standard compliance and continuous improvement.
Commenting on the web site's redesign, Martin Bowman, Gael Quality Sales & Marketing Manager said:
'As a vital point of contact between Gael Quality and our customers, we're upgrading and expanding the web site to deliver a greater breadth and depth of content. This should create a richer experience for visitors and, with a user base comprising a broad cross-section of markets and industries, will hopefully encourage cross-disciplinary feedback.'
For further information on the redesign, visit our web site at www.gaelquality.com.
