We expect Q-Pulse to enhance compliance and provide our staff with a better understanding of QMS principles. It will improve company decision making, allowing us to analyse the entire business, making it easier to assess gaps in the organisation and identify emerging trends.

The Royal College of Pathologists Quality Assurance Programs Pty Ltd (RCPA QAP) are set to save significant time in the management of their quality processes; improving the follow up of audit findings and enhancing tracking, reporting and trend analysis in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 17043:2010.
Providing a broad range of quality assurance programs and related services across all disciplines of pathology, RCPA QAP required an automated solution to replace their increasingly unmanageable combination of paper-based and electronic systems.
Based in Sydney, Australia, the Head Office had been struggling with poorly controlled and configured systems that would only support limited aspects of their quality management processes. In addition, they had no system in place for performance management, competency assessment or to record and track staff training.
Paul Cohen, Operations Manager at RCPA QAP, said: “We required an integrated, cost-efficient and user-friendly solution to replace a combination of poorly integrated and paper-based internal systems to help us gain more of a control over our QMS.
“There was a lack of integration and harmonisation between our existing systems and that resulted in a host of issues. These included poor follow ups of our audit findings, for example, and a lack of transparency in document control across all of our business functions. It also didn’t help that each unit of the business were controlling their own systems individually, so gaining a holistic view of the business was also difficult.
“We needed a solution that would centralise these processes, encouraging every department to work with the same management solution. At the same time, our new system had to help us adhere to standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 17043:2010.”
Having had previous experience of working with Q-Pulse, the quality management solution developed by Gael Ltd, Paul knew the impact it could have within RCPA QAP. He added: “I have implemented and used Q-Pulse within a number of organisations in the life sciences and medical industry.
“We selected the solution as I knew it would be able to integrate the management of all our QMS processes. It will provide us with a single solution and allow us to join all of our processes, meaning everything can be managed centrally no matter what department. As a business, we will be able to enhance tracking, reporting and trend analysis for company management, saving significant time in the control of the QMS at the business unit and management levels.
“We expect Q-Pulse to enhance compliance and provide our staff with a better understanding of QMS principles. It will improve company decision making, allowing us to analyse the entire business, making it easier to assess gaps in the organisation and identify emerging trends. Q-Pulse will help the business both in cost savings and in a reduction of audit findings, with less findings emerging from both our internal and external audits.
“Q-Pulse is one of the most cost-efficient and user friendly software solutions available on the market. It can be used straight out of the box or customised as required and I would highly recommend it for any organisation that requires the management of a QMS – irrespective of which standards require to be adhered to.”
