Q-Pulse allows us to easily manage and control our documentation, as well as delivering a complete audit solution allowing for the reporting of findings through a corrective action system.

After previously sharing Q-Pulse with the Pathology Department, Kings College Hospital’s Clinical Haematology Department required a central electronic QMS to manage all of their compliance activities prior to the opening of a new Cellular Therapy Unit (CTU).

Scheduled for opening in late 2011, the CTU will pioneer new cell therapies for people living with leukaemia, diabetes and liver failure, forming a crucial part of the Clinical Research Facility. To ensure it is granted the required MHRA and HTA licensing prior to its launch, Q-Pulse was chosen for their QMS processes and to meet the central compliance activities of all departments within the new unit: the Haematology Stem Cell Laboratory, the Liver and Pancreas Group and the Rayne Cell Therapy Suite (RCTS).

Gary Cheung, Training and Quality Manager, said: "Our Clinical Haematology department have at least two regulatory and two accreditation inspections over each two year cycle and required a robust QMS which would allow us to manage all our Quality processes centrally and electronically.

“Without an effective QMS there is a high risk that the laboratory could lose its licences and accreditation statuses which would have severe and wide-reaching consequences throughout the Trust as, for example, the Bone Marrow Transplant programme could not continue without it.

“We chose Q-Pulse as we already had firsthand knowledge of its benefits. It allows us to easily manage and control our documentation, as well as delivering a complete audit solution allowing for the reporting of findings through a corrective action system.

“Q-Pulse had a proven ability in reducing the risks associated with licensing and accreditation regimes within Kings College Hospital’s Pathology Department already. We felt it was the best option to significantly increase the ability to understand and analyse non-conformances - increasing the robustness of the QMS, ownership and interaction with the system and reducing the administrative burden associated with it.”
