University Hospital Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust has chosen an enterprise compliance management solution by Scottish software developers Gael Ltd to integrate Quality Management Systems (QMS) across multiple departments. As the leading University Teaching hospital in the West Midlands, the Trust required to maintain and improve control of their QMS activities across multiple departments to comply with industry regulations. Q-Pulse Enterprise provides this facility, enabling the Trust to effectively manage Document Control, Audit, and Corrective and Preventive Actions. With Q-Pulse already utilised by Clinical Laboratory Services, management wanted to extend the system to drive the implementation of QMS across several departments throughout the Trust, including IT Services, Clinical Lab Services, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy and the Radiation Physics and Protection Service (RRPPS). ‘The Laboratories at University Hospital Birmingham NHS FT have been utilising Q-Pulse as their Quality Management Software solution for 6 years now,’ explains Richard Daw, Group Quality Manager of the Clinical Laboratory Service at University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. ‘Q-Pulse has been instrumental in driving forward the implementation of a QMS within the clinical diagnostic laboratories during that time, not just for evidence-based working through effective document control, but also for quality surveillance, evaluation, CA/PA and the general drive for quality improvement. ‘The Trust has several Q-Pulse implementations in different departments, and we are now looking forward to bringing these systems together under a single integrated solution.
