Bulgarian flag carrier to integrate Quality and Safety with Q-Pulse

Bulgaria’s national airline is to integrate their management of Quality and Safety with help from one of the world’s leading solution providers for compliance management.

From 2009, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) is requiring member states to make the implementation of safety management systems (SMS) mandatory for operators. In managing their compliance with ICAO SMS requirements, Bulgaria Air have selected Q-Pulse IMS, from Gael Ltd.

Based in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, Bulgaria Air and its subsidiary, Hemus Air operate scheduled domestic and international services services to 21 countries in Western Europe, the Middle East and Russia from its main base at Sofia Airport, as well as charter, cargo and air ambulance services.

‘Within Bulgaria Air, we wanted to improve how we currently manage our Safety, Quality and Training Management processes,’ says Ivan Vasilev, Quality Operations & SMS Manager at Bulgaria Air.

‘Q-Pulse offered us an integrated solution to help reduce the time and effort that we spend managing these key Quality Assurance (QA) and Safety processes.’

In selecting Q-Pulse, Bulgaria Air recognised a solution that could support their management of QA and Safety processes. In addition, Q-Pulse was seen as providing a comprehensive system to help manage the requirements of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) and ICAO SMS.

‘Q-Pulse is now helping Bulgaria Air, Hemus Air and Bulgaria Balkan Holidays Air Company to implement Safety Management Systems at all three companies. In addition, by helping to improve the QA system, Q-Pulse will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our management systems.

‘Q-Pulse will also help to integrate how we manage our QA and Safety processes, by allowing us to take a systematic and holistic approach to Quality and Safety management. This will enable us to put a proactive integrated system in place that complies with the requirements of both IOSA and ICAO.’
