In selecting Q-Pulse from Gael Ltd, CMUH NHS Foundation Trust will be able to put a single, centralised system in place to manage Quality Management processes within the Trust’s Pharmacy department. The department serves five hospitals across the region – Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, Manchester Children’s Hospitals, Manchester Dental Hospital and Saint Mary’s Hospital – and ensures the optimal use of medicines by providing patients, carers and health professionals with on-demand access to relevant, accurate information at the point of need. In bringing the Trust’s two Pharmacy departments under one roof, management sought to harmonise Quality Management System (QMS) activities between the two with an integrated QMS solution for the newly-merged department, including Aseptic Manufacturing, Dispensing and Medicine Management. ‘With both departments in one building following the move, we needed a centralised system with which we could integrate the two separate QMS, including merging two sets of controlled documents into one,’ explains Elise Wood, Pharmacy Computing and Information Manager at Manchester Royal Infirmary. ‘In addition, we needed to put a system in place that would help the department’s Aseptic Unit to comply with stringent EU GMP guidelines, and Q-Pulse gives us a single integrated solution with which to do so. This will allow us to maintain and improve how Quality is managed throughout the whole department. ‘Q-Pulse will also form an integral component of our efforts to gain MHRA approval for the department’s new unit.
