Gael’s Q-Pulse is the QMS benchmark for Ireland’s official standards body NSAI

NSAI, the Nation Standards Authority of Ireland, is a government body operating under the NSAI Act (1996). As Ireland’s official standards body, NSAI aims to inspire consumer confidence and create the infrastructure for products and services to be recognised and relied on, all over the world. NSAI do this by developing standards; issuing certification; monitoring and regulating metrology; and approving new materials and processes for Ireland’s construction industry.

In order to enhance their quality management processes, NSAI sought an electronic quality management system that could be configured to their exact specifications. The new system would be integrated across all divisions of NSAI, allowing them to centralise their existing systems – of which there were several – ultimately streamlining their quality management processes.

Tom Costelloe, Quality Officer at NSAI, said: “My objective was to implement an efficient application for the coordination and management of processes such as document control, corrective action tracking and audit management. We required a system that would bring all of these processes together, easily allowing us to manage them.”

Tom added: “There were many features within Q-Pulse that I found extremely useful. For example, Q-Pulse allowed us to effectively implement a strict document control procedure, complete with approvals, revisions and workflows, but at the same time provided easy access to any of our documentation quickly and whenever we required it.

“However, among the greatest benefits to us was the ability to be able to configure Q-Pulse to our own specific requirements. This was an excellent feature and meant that members of our workforce could work with processes they were familiar with instead of wasting time trying to get used to new processes within a whole new solution.

“Q-Pulse brings everything together; it allows us to manage our QMS centrally. We can now access our complete suite of quality management documentation, including customer complaints, in the one place instead of over several platforms like before.
